01Where it started
One person, one rack, no system
Made In Vintage was the first of it. Sourcing from estate sales, thrift stores, and private sellers around Phoenix, then photographing, listing, packing, and shipping every piece personally — the whole chain run by one person out of one room.
There was no software behind it and no team. What there was instead was repetition: enough hours on the racks to learn what a good piece looks like from across a room, and enough listings written to learn that the writing is most of the sale.
02The method
Buy on knowledge,
sell on presentation
The rule the operation was built on, and the one thing that carried into everything after it. Margin comes from recognising something on a rack that the person who priced it did not. The sale comes from what happens next — the photograph, the measurements, the honest condition note, the styling that shows someone how a piece is meant to be worn.

03Why it closed
It outgrew its own name
Nothing failed. The operation simply got bigger than the brand it had been started under: the sourcing widened past the vintage the name promised, and the volume needed a process rather than a person remembering things.
Made In Vintage was archived in 2024 and the work continued as Thrift & Grail — the same method, run for scale.
